Still young, just getting started. Another very classy showing. This blend of 95% Nebbiolo and 5% Vespolina presents a lovely, bright garnet>garnet+ hue, it’s clear and fades ever so to the rim. The nose is soil driven for the first 2/3 of the bottle – which is just fine with me. Paired with braised rabbit over fettuccine, with roasted carrots and peas, this was a great pairing – the acids slicing through the earthy, brothy rabbit meat. The body is not quite medium – I think it will continue to add weight as it ages – the tannins, very fine. Acids slightly dominate the fruits now, but that’s really splitting hairs as ultimately the balance and freshness here are correct. I’d say the last glass was the best, but it’s more accurate to say that some 2 hours after opening, it was the last sip that was the best. If I had more, I’d let them rest another 4-5 years, it’s only going to get better. Lovely, structured. 14,5% abv. is fully resolved. recommended (R)

During my recent 3-month trip, I spent my first 4 days in and around Lessona region; I returned again, later in the trip, as the area is just that important, the quality improving just that much. It deserves my attention, and if you haven’t investigated lately yourself, I strongly recommend you do so.
